I used to be a runner and I loved it. That whole “Running is like chocolate- it’s addicting” stuff totally applied to me. I was in looove. Then my hip got injured and per doctor’s orders, I had to scale back. I’m not sure what made me remember how much I missed it, but I was feeling it! After realizing this about a month ago, I decided to dive back in. I haven’t raced anything higher than a 10K before, but now I am committed to do a half-marathon. Eek! This is REAL commitment! I’m super excited though. It’s in November, so I still have quite some time to work on getting to 13 miles and my time. But I have never felt this good! While I’m grinding on the treadmill, it hurts and I’m counting down the miles and minutes until I’m done. When I’m finished though, I feel exhilarated and empowered. Love it!
This past weekend, I got a heart rate monitor. I’m not quite sure how I feel about it, maybe I’m not utilizing it to it’s fullest extent. I’m hoping that anyone out there who has used a HRM can give me some advice on how to get the most out of it. I will tell you this: I feel super athletic and sporty wearing it! Ha!
